Energy-efficient window installation

“Energy-efficient” is not a window style — it is a combination of the glass package, the frame and, just as much, the quality of the installation. A high-performance window fitted with gaps around it does not perform.

How it works

The windows we install use insulated glass units — two or more panes with a sealed, often gas-filled space between them and a low-emissivity (low-E) coating that reflects heat back to where it came from. The frame and the air seal around the unit do the rest.

Where it fits well

  • Replacing single-pane or fogged, failed double-pane windows
  • Rooms that never hold their temperature, or that get uncomfortable in sun
  • Any replacement project — the efficient glass package is usually a small upgrade over base

What to weigh

  • The right low-E and glass spec depends on which way the window faces and how much sun it gets; we set this per opening at the estimate
  • The install matters as much as the unit — we insulate and air-seal every opening
  • We do not promise a specific percentage cut to your energy bill. The U.S. Department of Energy attributes roughly 25–30% of a home's heating and cooling energy use to heat gain and loss through windows, which is the honest way to frame the opportunity.

Questions

Energy-Efficient — good to know

How much will new windows lower my energy bill?

We will not put a number on it, because it depends on your current windows, your house, your climate and how you heat and cool it. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates windows account for about 25–30% of residential heating and cooling energy use — that is the size of the target, not a guarantee.

Is triple-pane glass worth it here?

For most homes in this area a good double-pane low-E unit is the right balance of performance and cost. Triple-pane can make sense for a very exposed elevation or for noise. We will tell you where it does and does not pay off.

Are your windows ENERGY STAR rated?

The manufacturers we carry offer ENERGY STAR qualified options. The specific rating depends on the line and glass package selected for your project — your estimator will confirm the exact spec.
